Individuals in groups

In this reading, Carol Travis states that people do not behave the same way if they are alone or in group. In fact, people in group try to rely on each other, they do not react because everybody is waiting for one particular person to make decisions. Thus, people in group are not as effective as in individual.

  1. Hi Ramatoulaye, I’m Rajiv from an ENG 220 class and I’m writing to offer you my advice on this particular writing assignment, as well as learn along the way. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to read your work, hopefully with my input you can improve its overall quality.
Firstly, I noticed that you summarized quite well the main ideas of the article, “In Groups We Shrink” by Carol Tavris, which is a key element of the assignment. However though, you need to then follow the proceeding steps of the assignment and development a more thorough essay. If you are having problems getting started, you can simply start by identifying ‘one’ idea from the passage and continue to build on that. The last sentence of your paragraph is a great claim (thesis) that can be paired with an idea(s) from the passage. After constructing that step, to add appropriate body to your work you can then support your claim(s) with evidence and examples from what you have previously read, or a personal story as instructed in the assignment guidelines. Ideally, it would great if you can provide a personal story that supports your claim of, “people in groups are not as effective as in individuals”. Use your thesis to your advantage as it’s quite bold, allowing you freedom to add solid support throughout. Make sure to re-read the assignment instructions to guide you along. I am sure with the appropriate support to your claim, you will have a well written piece.
Thanks again for posting this. Just continue to work on the essay using your claim (thesis) as the focal point. Good luck!
